Heronymus Heron Discovers His Shadow Book

Heronymus Heron Discovers His Shadow (and a Whole Lot More)

A creative story about a clever great blue heron who felt different and alone — that is, until his shadow and friends convinced him otherwise.

This engaging, highly visual tale about a likable heron encourages children to celebrate what makes them unique, treasure their relationships, and value our differences. Hero’s journey is one of discovery that invites children to find the hero in themselves and others.

Here’s to Piper! Piper’s curiosity and openness to the task before her, is key to discovering her courage, indeed for all of us, both children and adults, when learning something new … May we all find courage equal to Piper’s.

— PATRICIA PERRY, Clinical Psychologist

This book is great! I especially liked the fact that each bird Piper compared herself to was different, each caught fish based on their unique characteristics, and all were successful. The book develops this concept nicely. Well done!

You Gotta Love Heronymus! For all the Heronymus Herons out there, it’s time to claim your individual hero and dance to your heart’s content! And when you do, you’ll be surprised to see who follows.

— Trish P.

What a delight! The artwork is as wonderful as is the message. I simply cannot wait to share it with my grandchildren! Thank you for finding a beautiful way to encourage children to celebrate themselves and the joys of life.
